Following on from our communication “NHS England publishes carbon reduction plan (CRP) guidance” in February, NOE CPC would like to ensure suppliers and NHS organisations are aware of the guidance, support and training that’s available free of charge to assist in the understanding and application of the requirement for a Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) for all new contracts above £5m (ex-vat) per annum which has launched across the NHS.

The below is available either on demand or to attend:

Procurement Policy Note 06/21: Taking account of Carbon Reduction Plans in the procurement of major government contracts (Government guidance)
• Carbon reduction plan requirements for the procurement of NHS goods, services and works (NHS aligned guidance to PPN 06/21)

• NHS England are also providing
o A free CRP checking service until the end of September for suppliers to get feedback on their CRPs at england.crp-check@nhs.net
o Weekly supplier facing NHS CRP webinars Register for the NHS Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) supplier webinar distribution list | NHS England Events
• Crown Commercial Service provide free regular webinars on PPN 06/21 – CRP creation and training

For suppliers specifically, we would strongly encourage that you start work on creating your CRP now as they are technical documents that may take a considerable time to collate the relevant information from across the organisation. CRPs will be assessed, within all of the relevant threshold tenders, at the selection questionnaire (SQ) stage meaning that if your CRP does not meet the minimum requirement as listed in the above guidance you will then not be considered for the respective tender.

NHS contracting authorities are urged to share this information, both with their procurement teams and supply base also.

Suppliers can access further information on Carbon Reduction Plans via the links provided. If you have any further queries, please contact our Support Desk.
