CPC Drive’s Pre-Loved Scheme Gives Employees More Choice, Flexibility, and Control on the Road
This month we’re focusing on our CPC Drive team. In this article, Kairen Kynoch, Business Development Specialist, discusses the pre-loved scheme. A recent development to the CPC Drive offering that is designed to improve accessibility and support sustainability.
The CPC Drive pre-loved scheme is the latest addition to our salary sacrifice car benefit programme. It provides employees with access to high-quality used cars at an affordable monthly cost. Just like with the new car scheme, everything is included: fully comprehensive insurance, maintenance and servicing, breakdown cover, road tax, and a range of lifestyle protections.
Every vehicle is carefully checked and only listed once it meets the standards set by the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), so employees can feel confident about the quality of what they’re choosing.
Why We Launched It
The idea behind the pre-loved scheme was to make the car benefit programme more inclusive and affordable by opening the door to those who may not have previously met eligibility criteria due to pay scale banding. We realised that some employees were being priced out of new vehicle options. At the same time, the cost of living was increasing, and interest in electric and hybrid vehicles was growing.
How It Works
The structure of the pre-loved scheme mirrors the existing new car salary sacrifice model. Employees exchange a portion of their gross salary for a vehicle, and in doing so, benefit from tax and National Insurance savings.
Both schemes offer the same comprehensive package, including:
- Insurance for both business and personal use
- Maintenance, servicing, MOTs, repairs, and replacement tyres
- Road tax and UK-wide breakdown cover
- Lifestyle protections, including cover for resignation, redundancy, long-term sickness, parental leave, and more
- No upfront deposit or credit checks
- Carbon offsetting for tailpipe emissions and EV charging.
Uptake So Far
We began by piloting the scheme in late 2024 with a small number of accounts. That initial phase helped us fine-tune the offering before rolling it out more widely. In June 2025, it was available to all users. By the end of the 2024/25 financial year, 30 pre-loved vehicles had already joined the fleet.
Supporting Sustainability
One of the biggest advantages of this scheme is its environmental impact. By extending the lifecycle of high-quality vehicles, typically between 6 and 36 months old, we reduce the need for new car production and the associated use of raw materials and energy.
If a vehicle isn’t leased again, it either joins the pre-loved pool for another cycle or is sold at auction. Nothing is wasted, and everything is managed with sustainability in mind.
