Using data to unlock potential: An overview of the Technical Programme Management Office
Welcome to the latest update in our #TeamTalk series, where we put a spotlight on the teams that make up NOE CPC.
This month we’re focusing on our Technical Programme Management Office team, who perform a range of functions from managing our data, building reports, creating digital tools for our customers and supporting NHS organisations with spend reports.
Adam Taylor, Technical Programme Manager, gives us an overview of his team’s work.

“As a procurement organisation we generate and process vast quantities of data. Understanding that data and using it to help drive optimisation and efficiencies across our organisation, the NHS and the wider public sector is vital, and that’s where our team comes in.
“I have been working for NOE CPC for 18 years, almost since the organisation began, and in that time my work and the work of my team has evolved. However, at its core it’s about crunching the numbers and helping people access data that they can understand and use to make more informed decisions.
“The Technical Programme Management Office began as a reporting function but has now become a vehicle for various projects which aim ultimately to deliver efficiencies for our customers – whether that’s through savings via a spend analysis or developing an online tool to make it easier for them to use our frameworks.
“Part of my team is focussed on reporting; ensuring we meet important standards on the quality of our products and services, on information security and on artificial intelligence. We have just been reaccredited on our Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) and our Information Security Management System (ISO 27001) standards, which was a huge success for us, and we are waiting to hear on our Artificial Intelligence Management System (ISO 42001) accreditation.
“My team are also developing new tools which will help us understand exactly what services and products NHS organisations are spending money on, which in turn will help us to identify opportunities for suppliers to support the NHS and meet their requirements.
“We develop internal reports that help us understand what type of spend is flowing through our organisation, and whether we are meeting our targets. And then we have data specialists who are aligned to our various categories, which means they can provide dedicated support not just to our category teams, but to our customers as well – such as analysing current spend and finding potential efficiencies.
“We have recently completed a large piece of analysis work with Joined Up Care Derbyshire, looking at their spend across four trusts, spotting patterns and trends and helping them join suppliers or merge contracts where appropriate in order to create savings."
