My name is Leo Shippam, and I’m a Supplier Relationship Manager working in the ICT Category at NOE CPC. My role spans both ICT and Healthcare, but within ICT, I focus on building relationships with new and existing suppliers. This is to facilitate the compliant usage of our framework portfolio by our members and customers. IT has always fascinated me, and I understand the importance of staying updated in such a fast-paced industry. If you lose track of computer technology for just a few years, you might find yourself needing IT support just to turn on your laptop.

My role is varied and keeps me busy throughout the year. I spend my time talking to, visiting, and assisting suppliers to maximise the opportunities our frameworks provide, while always ensuring the best value for our customers.

Technology Evolution in the NHS and Public Sector

In the three years I’ve been here, the technology landscape within the NHS and public sector has evolved dramatically. IT is the fastest changing and rapidly growing industry globally, with innovative technologies and trends emerging constantly. Keeping up with our suppliers and the wider market is essential. AI has become commonplace and is a focal point when suppliers and vendors market at exhibitions and events. Besides AI, new buying trends continue to develop, making it crucial to stay informed.

Emerging Technologies and Supplier Innovation

Looking ahead, AI is likely to play a pivotal role in the NHS and public sectors. The NHS Transformation Directorate aims to digitise, connect, and transform healthcare services, and AI will be central to this digital transformation strategy.

Our suppliers are innovating to meet the future needs of our customers by aligning with the ICBs and ICSs and staying in tune with the wider public sector. As public sector areas look to work more closely together, especially as budgets tighten, this alignment is crucial.

IT Challenges and Framework Solutions

One of the biggest IT challenges in the public sector is the significant spending within the NHS. Evaluating the cost-effectiveness and return on investment (ROI) of digital technologies is becoming increasingly important. Suppliers and vendors are keen to highlight how trusts can monitor financial, non-financial, and indirect ROI.

Evolving Procurement Approaches

At NOE CPC, we have a fantastic team of category experts and procurement professionals. Our approach to procurement is evolving to manage anticipated changes in technology and public sector policies, ensuring we remain at the forefront of innovation.

Future Trends in NHS and Public Sector IT

AI is undoubtedly the biggest game-changer of our time which is expected to trigger a new wave of interest and competition. This will push the race for the biggest and best new tech even further. In terms of the top five future trends, AI will drive advancements in cybersecurity, cloud computing, personal dictation, and action planning.

Joining Future IT and Technology Frameworks

For suppliers interested in joining future IT and Technology frameworks, the first step is to reach out to me or anyone in our category team. We have new frameworks on the horizon at NOE CPC, and we want to engage with suppliers within the IT market. If you’re interested, please get in touch.

Criteria for Selecting Key Suppliers

My advice to suppliers is to engage with us early. Early engagement at the pre-market stage allows you to get involved from the ground up and gain a great understanding of why these frameworks are created, who they are for, and for what they will be used. While the criteria can vary from framework to framework, quality, trust, price, and compliance are always key indicators of a successful applicant.

Catering to NHS and Public Sector Needs

Our IT frameworks are market-leading and market-defining tools for our members and customers to purchase through. Our category team has worked hard to get many of the top suppliers on them. By collaborating with myself and our IT category team, we can provide an easy, fast, and compliant route to market.
